Ros
Jennings studied classical piano from the age of seven and also
studied violin for seven years. She later studied in the South
Australian College of Advanced Education. Ros later accompanied
The Adelaide Connection vocal jazz ensemble, performing with the
likes of Don Burrows, James Morrison, Errol Buddle and various
international touring big bands. She studied jazz piano and arranging
with the legendary local educator/performer and former ABC Radio
Orchestra arranger Eric Bryce. Ros took up the bass guitar in
1986 and performed in Adelaide nightclubs with a nine piece funk
and dance band Bounce To The Ounce. She then performed for six
months as resident pianist at the Hahndorf Inn in the Adelaide
Hills area.
In
1988, Ros joined the local band Down Under as a back-up singer
who also performed on bass guitar and keyboards. She became musical
director of the Ararat City Brass band in 1989. She performed
as keyboardist/vocalist for Sister Suzies Beat Boys in 1990
and enjoyed a twelve months residence at the George Hotel in Ballarat.
During 1992-96, the band reduced to the duo Uptown with Ros taking
the lead in vocals. She also played keyboard and tenor saxophone,
and created all back-up sequences. Ros also composed, orchestrated
and recorded the music for four original musical comedies. After
traveling overseas in 1997, Ros relocated in Melbourne to work
exclusively as a musician. Throughout 1998 Ros predominantly worked
around Melbourne and the neighboring suburbs playing mostly in
clubs and bistros.
Most
recently, Ros has been performing piano bar engagements in international
five star hotels, including long term engagements in Japan and
the United Arab Emirates.
